Various Hair Removal Techniques

Hair removal is a very popular cosmetic procedure in the West. Hair removal can be performed on every part of the body. There are a variety of hair removal techniques available today.

Hair Removal By Shaving

The most simple of hair removal techniques is the electric shaver. Nearly as simple is the manual, razor-based hair removal. For this manual, razor-based hair removal, a woman can simply step in the shower and shave her legs while getting clean.

For those with sensitive skin, shaving can cause a lot of itching or burning reactions. Showering and shaving in either warm or cold water help soothe or numb the area where the shaving is taking place. Additionally, warm water can make the hair softer for cutting and cold water can make the hair more brittle for cutting. It may also help the quality of the shave to cut against the hair, but this will be very irritating to the skin of those who have sensitive skin. Doing the shaving in the shower cuts down a great deal on the amount of swelling and rash that results from razor shaving.

Hair Removal By Waxing

Waxing is another of the long-used forms of hair removal. Wax in liquid form is spread across the skin. The wax is then pulled off after the wax dries with the hair caught in it. This can of course be very painful for a few seconds. Also, the damage caused under the skin to hair follicles as they are ripped apart can result in ingrown hair.

Depilatory Hair Removal

Creams for depilatory hair removal actually melt the hair. This is actually a lot less painful than waxing, and less likely to develop anything as painful as razor burn. You simply put your creams for depilatory hair removal on your body and wait about ten minutes as the cream begins to melt your hair away.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is one of the newer forms of hair removal. You go to a doctor for several treatments over a period of time. Upon completion of your treatments, most of the hair will never grow back again.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is another relatively new technique. It involves the use of electrical pulses to inhibit follicle growth.
